European Journal of Engineering Education – Call for Papers
Special 2007 Issue: Engineering Education - Pedagogic and Didactic Aspects in the Context of the Emerging Knowledge Society
Guest Editor: Federico Flueckiger (firstname.lastname@example.org)
Public and professional education in general and engineering education in particular have to support in all life stages the participation of individuals in social and economical life in the information society. Our educational system and our understanding, which still dominated very much by the traditional career approach (basic training, study, job), must adapt to the new order. In particular the universities with their teacher directed and (far too often) ineffective educational concepts are challenged to prepare their graduates better for the emerging knowledge society in which the qualified use of the new information opportunities will become the key qualification particularly for engineers. However, the conversion of new learning concepts into real life curricula often fails because of so-called practical necessities and rigid traditions.
This special issue on Engineering Education - Pedagogic and Didactic Aspects in the Context of the Emerging Knowledge Society aims to collect a selection of key peer-reviewed articles relating to the improvement of teaching methods in technical subjects and the development of practice-oriented curricula corresponding to the need of present day technical students and professionals from all around the world.
In particular we seek contributions on the following topics:
