The time schedule of the academic year 2021/2022

The academic year begins on September 1st of the current year and ends on August 31st of the following year.
The academic year is divided into two semesters in the case of bachelors, engineer's and master's study.
Each semester consists of a minimum 12 weeks to be used for the implementation of a basic form of educational activities (hereinafter referred to as "teaching") and at least 4 weeks of examination period.

Study in all study programmes begins at the beginning of the first semester of the academic year in question. Study in doctoral study programmes can begin at the beginning of the second semester of the academic year as well.

After discussion in the rector's advisory board, the rector of the Slovak University of Technology announces the binding time schedule of a given academic year, specifying the beginning and end of the teaching in the academic year for each semester, and the beginning and end of the examination periods and holidays. 

If a study programme is implemented at a faculty, respective dean subsequently publishes the time schedule of the academic year for the faculty, in which he (she) completes the academic year time with a period in which the registrations, state examinations, and other academic activities being specific for the faculty take place.

In accordance with Article 4 (7) of the Rector's Directive No. 9/2021 "Organization and conditions of the educational process and operation of STU for the winter semester of acad. year 2021/2022", the Rector of STU cancels the organization of any academic ceremonies, formal and other activities with mass attendance that are not considered requisite to the operation of STU, especially those organized in enclosed spaces with a higher risk of COVID-19 transmission. These provisions do not apply to risk level "Monitoring".
