In the academic year 2025/2026, the STU Faculty of Informatics and Information Technologies (FIIT) in Bratislava opens a new international study programme of Informatics in English for students, providing thus the option of a Bachelor degree exclusively in English as the first Informatics faculty in Slovakia.
The secondary school students who focus on Informatics and appreciate international study environment including a foreign language no longer have to travel abroad. Starting from the academic year 2025/2026, they will have the chance to choose a new international study programme Informatics in English, which is being opened at STU FIIT. The programme will focus on software engineering, artificial intelligence, information security as well as the Internet and Internet technologies. Within the new study programme in English, the Faculty will also provide a dynamic and inspiring environment with fellow-students from various countries of the world.
“STU is making progress in internationalization. In addition to prestigious foreign accreditations, extensive international collaborations, top-notch hi-tech facilities, and experts from both, academia and industry, the study programme of Informatics in English at STU FIIT is another significant contribution in this area. I believe that it will provide students from Slovakia with an attractive alternative to studying abroad, which will retain top IT experts at STU and also attract future ones. Our goal is to build Slovakia as a country that sets the pace in technological innovations and keeps abreast of the latest global trends,” said Oliver Moravčík, the STU Rector.
“Our new international study programme in English will provide the Slovak and foreign students with a unique opportunity to establish contacts with the global IT community. Students will get the chance to collaborate with leading experts from Slovakia and abroad who are willing to share their deep knowledge and valuable experience. The international environment will involve our students into practice and cooperation with top technology companies operating on a global level, thus opening the door for graduates to excellent career opportunities in the IT field anywhere in the world,” proclaims Ivan Kotuliak, the STU FIIT Dean.
Future graduates of the new study programme in English will receive top-notch IT education with an internationally recognized degree and British accreditation by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), which will allow them to work for the most prestigious technology companies all over the world. FIIT is the only faculty in Slovakia and the Czech Republic with the accreditation equal to that of the renowned German, Swiss and British universities such as Oxford, Cambridge or Manchester.
STU FIIT provides study of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cryptocurrencies, IoT, blockchain or software development that are crucial for the functioning of a modern 21st century society. The students will have the chance to be involved into cutting-edge projects and follow the latest technological trends.
The new study programme of Informatics in English at STU FIIT aims to significantly contribute to the digital transformation in Slovakia and to educating future leaders in the field of information technology.
