The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava will closely cooperate with the Slovak Gas Company (Slovenský plynárenský priemysel, SPP). Mutual interest was sealed by Oliver Moravčík, the STU Rector, and Vojtech Ferencz, the SPP CEO by signing a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation. SPP will allow STU students to show their potential and gain experience with the largest power supplier in Slovakia.
The Memorandum was signed on Wednesday, 27 March, at the SPP premises. The aim of cooperation is to interconnect education and science with practice, to develop energy literacy among young people and to use potential of talented students who will be involved in SPP projects and activities. The students will thus get the chance to gain practical experience and future jobs in a well-established and successful power Company.
"As a technology university, STU tries to attract prestigious partners from the industry, where we can use our engineering know-how. We are proud that our Master and Doctoral graduates are in demand. I am very happy that such an important company as SPP is now one of the STU partners," said Oliver Moravčík, STU Rector.
"We look forward to cooperation with the STU teachers and students, whom we would like to help connect their theoretical knowledge with practice and simultaneously present them our services and products," says Vojtech Ferencz, the SPP CEO.
The SPP and STU cooperation will include proposals and consultations of final Bachelor and Master theses on energy topics provided by SPP experts, professional lectures and seminars conducted by SPP employees, preparation of students for the labour market through paid internships and their involvement in real projects, implementation of short-term and long-term projects with the aim of developing innovation and entrepreneurship, mutual provision of consultations and advice, as well as the possibility of using the internal SPP space "Spejs" for academic purposes.
The long-term cooperation of SPP and STU will strengthen the connection of theoretical knowledge with practice and will also enhance the educational process with new topics, information and case studies from the field of power industry.
