The EULiST Global Conference 2025 took place from 20 to 21 November in Aranjuez, Spain, bringing together universities, industry partners, policymakers, and local communities from across the EULiST Alliance. This year’s conference focused on the theme: Co-creating Sustainable Solutions for Climate-Resilient Societies.
The programme explored sustainability from different perspectives. Four parallel tracks framed the discussions:
- Knowledge Through Research
- Industrial Partners as Vectors of Transformation
- Urban Resilience and Climate Neutrality
- Information and Society

The STU delegation, representing multiple faculties and areas of expertise, attended sessions across the conference’s various themes and discussions. Members included Peter Klimáček, Miriam Juríčková, Katarína Krekulová, Tatiana Klempová, Dávid Lörinc, Tatiana Sivčáková, Lenka Kapustová, Richard Varga, Lukáš Michalák, Zora Pauliniová, and Juma Haydary. The conference provided valuable insights and opportunities for engagement:
„A highlight of the EULiST Global Conference was the opportunity to exchange perspectives on sustainable development beyond academia. I especially valued my discussion with the City of Vienna and UIV Urban Innovation Vienna on their municipal solid waste management experience. The conference also included several strong presentations on life cycle assessment (LCA), an area closely aligned with my interests.“
~ prof. Ing. Juma Haydary, PhD., the chief official of the Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering
“The conference offered concrete examples of successful collaboration between academia and cities, particularly from Vienna and Athens, showing that with good coordination universities can be effectively involved in developing solutions. Two presentations from Leibniz University Hannover stood out: one on a methodology for life-cycle assessment of universities, and another on the design of a study program directly linked to an industrial partner. Both provided practical insights that can be applied at STU as well.”
~ Ing. Tatiana Klempová, PhD., Assistant Lecturer, Institute of Biotechnology
EULiST Global Conference 2025 was a great success. With strong engagement across sectors and regions, the momentum continues as preparations begin for the next EULiST Global Conference in 2027, which will expand the dialogue with international partners beyond Europe. STU’s engagement aligns with the university’s long-term effort to strengthen international collaboration and promote sustainability in research and education.
