Rector
In 2021 – 2025, Professor Maximilián Strémy served as the STU Vice-Rector for Strategic Projects, Development, Innovation and Practice. He was responsible for the areas of international projects in European schemes, coordination of strategic development projects, cooperation with industry, innovation, technology transfer, the activities of the STU Technology Incubator, while simultaneously leading other University activities, such as Trends of R&D STU, Teaching and Learning Forum, and Science-enterTainment-yoU!. Formerly, he was the Vice-Dean for Foreign Relations and International Projects of the STU Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (STU MTF) in Trnava, where he also performed pedagogical and research activities. He supervised Master and Bachelor theses as well as dissertations, and co-guaranteed Doctoral study programme in the field of Automation.
He successfully solved several international and domestic projects, including the H2020 Project Call for Teaming, which he coordinated. He has lectured in Slovakia and abroad. In 2018 - 2019, he was an expert for the Slovak Republic in the international EC H2020 Project. In 2014 - 2018, he was the Senior Deputy Director of the Institute for Research of Advanced Technologies (UVPT). In 2015 - 2020, he founded and led the Minerva Group - a non-profit organization and a volunteer group of young researchers and students at STU. In the period of 2007 - 2014, he was the director of Qintec s.r.o. focused on IT, automation, scientific research and economic projects. He was also a pedagogue and research fellow at the STU MTF in Trnava, where he had completed his Master (in 2002) and his Doctoral (in 2009) studies, and habilitated in 2012.
He has been a member of the Board for Development and Financing of the Council of Higher Education Institutions of the Slovak Republic, the advisory bodies of the Czech Republic Technology Agency for the support of applied research and innovation, the working group for international cooperation, research infrastructures and EOSC at the Slovak Centre for Scientific and Technical Information, as well as the Commission for Technological Development and Innovation of the Committee of the Slovak Republic National Council for Economic Affairs.
In 2023, he was granted the Small Medal of St. Gorazd by the SR Ministry of Education for his contribution to the field of education and its development; in 2021, he received the STU MTF Teacher of the Year Award, and was the ESET Science Award finalist in the category of Outstanding University Educator. In 2020, he received the STU Rector's Award for outstanding educational achievements.
