The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava is the best technical university in Slovakia. This has been confirmed by the latest edition of the renowned QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026. Overall, STU ranked 388th out of 958 European universities, while significantly improving its score.

In the renowned QS World University Rankings: Europe 2026, STU ranked 388th as the best technical university in Slovakia. Last year, it ranked 387th. This year, however, almost 291 new universities were added to the ranking. In total, it included 958 universities. After Comenius University that performed best, STU is the second highest ranked out of the eleven Slovak universities evaluated.
Compared to last year, STU recorded a significant improvement in the points rating: 19.6 points received last year and 30.9 points this year. The ranking evaluates universities according to twelve criteria.
"A significantly higher points rating shows that we are going in the right direction. However, there is no reason to be satisfied, as competition in the rankings and the demands of the time keep increasing. We will continue to work on improving individual parameters via increasing the quality of education and conditions for productive research and innovation," responded Maximilián Strémy, STU Rector.
Prof. Marián Valko of the STU Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology with almost 40 thousand citations in Scopus is the most cited scientist at the Slovak University of Technology. His article "Free radicals and antioxidants in normal physiological functions and human disease" in the International Journal of Biochemistry and Cell Biology has over 12 thousand citations, which is the highest number for an author from Slovakia.
