Graduate of the study Double-Degree Biotechnology xA doctoral program: • has extensive expertise in several areas of the field of study of biotechnology, which serves as a basis for the implementation of research and development and the creation of new knowledge in the field of biotechnology, however, graduate profile is mainly based on the theme of his/her disertation work • controls the optimization of existing biotechnological processes or new, innovative solutions in industrial, agricultural, food, medical, pharmaceutical and environmental biotechnologies • has practical skills and abilities to work on complex experimental equipment, the graduate is skilled in the preparation and implementation of a new biotechnology experiment, can draw conclusions obtained using modern instrumentation • can evaluate and appropriately select specific scientific methods of basic and applied research in the field of biotechnology • has experience in designing and planning experiments, in processing results, preparing and presenting reports on research results • has general knowledge of the priorities necessary for the development of society, professional and methodological knowledge from several areas of the field of biotechnology and its practice, serving as a basis for innovation and originality in practice necessary for the development of research and development design • can apply modern statistical methods for data management and parameter estimation • is able to formulate new hypotheses and strategies for further research and development of the study field of biotechnology • has communication experience in presenting research results in Slovak and technical English

Profile courses

Employability of graduates

Graduates will be employed in biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical companies, universities and research institutes. They can also join consulting and design companies as well as domestic and foreign commercial and technical organizations. The versatility of this study program allows the graduate to be employed in all countries of the European Union in the biotechnology, food and pharmaceutical industries in positions requiring a tertiary education. After additional training, they will find positions in other technical areas, thanks to the acquired technical way of thinking. Graduates have extensive knowledge of microbiology, fermentation technology, molecular biology, genetic engineering, biochemistry, enzymology, biocatalysis, environmental and pharmaceutical biotechnology, bioengineering, chemical and bioanalytical methods and techniques. An important part of graduates' education is also their independent laboratory and scientific work in the chosen biotechnological field. Graduates can apply this knowledge in the design of fermentation processes, their modeling and simulation in terms of optimization of the production process, targeted construction of new production biosystems and bioproducts. They can present the results of the research in the form of a report or a scientific publication in technical English. Thanks to language training, graduates can apply in all EU countries in the field of biotechnology industry, research and development.
