Knowledge

A graduate of the 3rd degree in the branch of study Art completed the 2nd degree in the study program Design, Architecture and Urbanism or in another related branch of study, or can prove his/her results as an author in the creative industry, design or artistic practice or in research in the last 3 years. Graduate of a doctoral Design Study Programme: ● is familiar with the practice and theory of social, environmental, ethical and economic aspects of design and creative activities; ● is able to apply theoretical and practical knowledge of design theory and methodology in a complex creative design process in all branches of the creative industry; ● is familiar with the categories, concepts and semantic contexts of design theory; ● can become a member of an interdisciplinary and/or an international creative or research team and apply his/her design thinking in other scientific disciplines; ● works professionally at the international level; ● has experience in the field of copyright and in industrial-legal protection of a design work and can apply it in the practice.

Skillset

Graduate of a doctoral Design Study Programme: ● has an advanced ability to think creatively, conceptually and critically and to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in the creative process and production practice in creating his/her own scientific or creative outputs; ● is aware of the impact of the design profession on society and reflects critically thereof; ● is familiar with the current design practice, development and research, he/she can integrate these aspects into the design of practical solutions (concepts, systems, services) that reflect the a/m topics; ● has experience in teaching and knowledge transfer, thanks to which he is able to find employment in vocational education; ● is able to acquire, analyze, evaluate and interpret independently the qualitative and quantitative data related to research problems of design and art; ● can conceive the research tasks and studies, projects and grants‘ intentions and write scientific texts; ● is able to compile and conduct an experiment, to approach the research methods in a creative way; ● can present the results of his / her scientific and artistic work in a public, eg. in the form of active participation in artistic and/or scientific events at home and abroad; ● is able to work with constructive feedback from a wider panel of experts from a practice as well as the scientific environment in creating his/her publications and in his/her creative activities as well; ● is able to express himself/herself in the form of theoretical texts and scientific publications in the subject area of art, but also in other scientific disciplines with an overlap into design; ● has experience with professional self-education and personal growth for the necessary continual development of his/her skills and competencies.

Competencies

Graduate of a doctoral Design Study Programme: ● can design complex creative solutions and apply the methods of design and artistic research process in a wide range of scientific disciplines, areas, practice as well as in applied projects of an interdisciplinary nature; ● can work independently, can solve complex scientific and creative problems effectively, make critical decisions regarding the management and planning of the implementation of complex scientific and creative projects; ● has the necessary competencies to lead and coordinate a multi-member research, scientific, interdisciplinary or creative team at the international level; ● can carry out the basic management and ensure the funding of research, development, creative and educational projects in domestic and foreign grant schemes; ● is able to lead the process of product and service development in an international context; ● masters time management and has the skills needed to plan, organize and transfer creative and scientific projects into practice in a successful way; ● can hold a lecturer position in vocational education.

Employability of graduates

Education in the subject area allows the graduate to work as an independent designer in various areas and spheres of design, in research and development teams, in which he/she can ensure funding for research and development projects, build and lead a team. When working as a freelancer, the graduate is ready to solve complex projects with overlaps into a wide range of industries. He/she is able to hold management positions in design studios and architectural studios. He/she can find a job in development and technology centers, in standard design professions and in other related professions. The graduate is able to hold a managerial position in vocational education. The graduate of the doctoral study programme Design can find employment in the field of design and artistic creation, as a curator of exhibitions, collections of design or as a manager of creative and experimental projects. Interdisciplinary preparation of the graduates is a prerequisite for his/her employment in the border areas of design between architecture, urban planning, interior design, etc. FAD STU graduates very frequently opt to work under a work contract or as freelancers under the Trade License. Due to this fact, it is not possible to accurately assess the employability of our graduates after the completion of individual degrees of study.
