Knowledge

The graduate of the Study Program Theory and Technology of Building Environment: • has deep knowledge from the disciplines necessary for mastering the theory and technology of the building environment at a scientific level, such as: mathematical analysis, probability theory and statistical methods, selected chapters from mathematics and physics, flow of gas and liquid, heat and mass transfer, indoor environment of buildings, energy audit of buildings, • has broad knowledge and understanding of application disciplines: heating systems, health-technical systems, ventilation, air-conditioning and refrigeration technology, renewable energy sources which are essential for the solution of the scientific problem with regard to the topic of the dissertation thesis, • knows and understands theories, methods and procedures used in building environment technology and their possible application in science and research, • has broad knowledge and understanding of the specialist area of theory and technology of the building environment including knowledge of the practical context and relationships to related disciplines, • understands theories, physical processes and phenomena taking place by the production and distribution of heat, electricity and cold, progressive methods of water supply to buildings, sewage disposal of buildings and the supply of buildings with heating gas, • knows the structure and connections between individual components of the creation of environment technology, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems, measurement and control, systems of medical and technical equipment, fire protection equipment of buildings, renewable energy sources and energy recuperation, • has deep knowledge and practical skills in modern computer software for designing complex technical and technological systems in technical equipment of buildings, • has the skills to navigate in the trends of theory and technology of the building environment including smart and sustainable buildings using renewable and clean energy sources. • has good knowledge of professional and technical terminology in a world language.

The graduate of the Study Program Theory and Technology of Building Environment can: • formulate a scientific hypothesis; establish the objectives, methods, principles and time schedule of scientific work, • actively acquire new knowledge and information, to prepare global overview of the state of the problem solving, • creatively and systematically investigate a problem using scientific methods, research and development procedures, • verify achieved results and confront them with current theory or other solutions, • continuously publish verified outputs from the solution of a scientific problem; • present and defend the results of scientific research.

The graduate of the Study Program Theory and Technology of the Building Environment is characterized by: • a high degree of independence and creativity in solving scientific objectives, • ability to formulate information about the process and results of problem solving, communicate professionally with experts and the scientific community, • awareness of the social, moral, legal and economic context of his/her profession and is able to use appropriate practices in accordance with professional, ethical and legal standards, • ability to solve problems, coordinate actions in teams and make independent and responsible decisions in a changing environment, • ability to process the results of research work at a high level and present them in public, readiness to take responsibility for his/her actions and decisions, considering wider social implications.

The graduate of the Study Program Theory and Technology of Building Environment has full education for research and development of new technical and energy systems applying the requirements for reducing the energy consumption of buildings and the quality of the indoor environment of buildings with a significant use of renewable energy sources. He/she can be employed in public and private companies as well as multinational companies, where it is necessary to solve challenging tasks of interaction of different energy systems in new smart buildings based on the acquired theoretical knowledge in environmental technology of buildings. He/she will find employment in highly professional positions where he/she can apply the latest knowledge in recycling of materials, use of renewable energy sources, energy recuperation, with emphasis on sustainability of indoor environmental systems of buildings. The graduate is prepared to creatively develop the knowledge of science and technology and is capable of independent scientific work in the theory and construction of buildings and in the creation of building environment.

The graduate of the Study Program Theory and Technology of Building Environment has the knowledge and skills necessary for research and development of new technology and energy systems applying requirements for reducing the energy consumption of buildings and the quality of the indoor environment of buildings with a significant use of renewable energy sources. He/she is prepared to solve the challenging tasks of interaction of different energy systems in new smart buildings based on the acquired theoretical knowledge in building environment technology. The student is prepared to apply the latest knowledge in material recycling, energy recuperation with emphasis on sustainability of indoor environmental systems in buildings. The graduate is ready to creatively develop the knowledge of science and technology and is capable of independent scientific work in the theory and construction of buildings and in the creation of building environment. The graduate will find employment in practice as: • researcher in research and development of new systems of environmental technology in buildings (renewable energy sources, technological equipment, energy recuperation, use of rainwater and grey water, etc.), • university lecturer at technical universities - in the discipline of civil engineering, • highly skilled employee in multinational companies and companies specializing in technical equipment of buildings and environment technology of buildings, • authorized civil engineer of the Slovak Chamber of Civil Engineers (SKSI) in category I4 – Civil engineer for technical, technological and energy equipment of buildings, • responsible employee in assessing sustainability of buildings, with emphasis on the environmental and economic aspects of the design and operation of environmental technology, • project manager of environmental technology systems in complex of buildings, in the process of their construction and operation, • independent creative employee in national and multinational scientific institutions, e.g. for the development of legislation and technical standards..
