Knowledge

The field of study includes the knowledge of natural, technical, social and economic sciences necessary to ensure the integrated management of sustainable spatial development in the unity of socio-cultural, natural-ecological, technical and economic aspects of the development of territorial socio-ecosystems of regions, cities and municipalities, for harmonizing the interests of various actors and subjects of territorial development and its orientation towards social and territorial cohesion. Furthermore, it includes knowledge and skills for ensuring activities, from the evaluation of challenges, conditions, problems and potentials of development and territorial capital, through the formulation of development goals, the development of strategic and operational plans, the coordination of spatially relevant sectoral planning activities to the management of the implementation of integrated development strategies and plans in the system of socioeconomic, landscape and territorial planning, planning of transport infrastructure, smart development of the countryside and cities, and the system of monitoring and information about the territory. Special attention is paid to the preparation of graduates for moderation of social participation processes and mediation of conflicts between subjects of spatial development. The graduate has knowledge of natural, technical, social and economic scientific disciplines, on the basis of which he can analyze and evaluate the state, properties and values of territorial systems in terms of natural and socio-economic complexes, development, culture, economy, ecology, economic and social structures, landscape aesthetics, forms of land use, identify problems and evaluate the resilience or vulnerability of social ecosystems and properly interpret and use processed information in creative planning activities, identify and evaluate the development potential of territorial systems, process strategic and operational program documents, propose and lead implementation measures and interventions to support sustainable development, moderate social participation processes, ensure mediation of conflicts in the planning process, ensure and coordinate complex territorial management and implementation of development projects. The graduate has knowledge of different planning cultures and systems in Europe and the world, political, legal and institutional contexts of planning activities. The graduate has skills in coordination work in interdisciplinary teams, in the processing of integrated development strategies, in particular spatial planning and landscape planning documentation and documentation of strategic socio-economic planning of territorial entities and solving specific problems of spatial development, including social services in the territory.

Employability of graduates

The data obtained from the portal https://uplatnenie.sk/ about the graduates of the 2nd degree of Spatial Planning show clearly that the majority of students were employed in 2019 - 78% and 17% had contract work, mainly in the Bratislava region and 6% continued their studies at the doctoral level of study. The largest group applied in the sectors - Professional, scientific and technical activities or Information and communication. Their average gross monthly salary was €1197. In 2018, it was similar, 70% of graduates were employed and 10% self-employed (in Slovak SZČO), 10% continued their studies. Most applied in the Bratislava region, but the average salary was higher. And that's €1439. It is clear from these data that there are 0 unemployed among the 2nd degree graduates.

A graduate of engineering studies has the moral, organizational and professional competences to ensure planning, project, management, as well as scientific activity and expert activity in the field of spatial planning and creation of the environment and strategic environmental assessment. The graduate has competences for independent creative work and coordination of interdisciplinary teams in the field of territorial planning, landscape planning and socio-economic planning of territorial subjects and strategic environmental assessment. It is used in state administration and self-government, in project and planning institutions and companies, in the private sector in development companies, investment and banking institutions and the like. His education enables him to be a competent and authorized person for the performance of specific activities in construction in accordance with special regulations.
