Knowledge

Graduate of the Bachelor of Design: ● Understands the mission, tasks and potential of design in the economy and development of society as well as the requirements placed on the designer in practice; ● Compares the differences of work in the employment relationship and in the freelance profession; is able to evaluate the significance of the level of education achieved for the decision to continue studying at the master's degree; ● Understands small business management in design; ● Knows the history, types and spheres of design as well as their specific requirements for theoretical and practical training for the performance of the chosen profession and later specialization in various areas of design; ● He/She is aware of the basic social, production, economic, ecological and legal aspects of designing, as well as the designer's moral responsibility, ethical demands towards customers, the environment and the profession, especially in protection against plagiarism; ● Applies selected design procedures leading to the realization of the work according to the assignment, planning time and resources for designing (but also in the studio itself). Understands the importance of chronology and methodology in procedures; ● He/She keeps track of the materials and technologies used in the production of products typical for designing; ● He/She is well versed in the professional terminology of design and related fields (in Slovak and foreign languages).

● He/She is ready to design a simpler product of author's solitaire, craft and industrial production independently or in a team; ● Professional creation and designing innovative solutions strongly motivates and satisfies him/her - it is a form of his/her self-expression and self-awareness; ● He/She is aware of his/her own potential for the creation of the assigned work under specific conditions (resources, time, quality). He/She can make an informed choice from the number of jobs being offerred to him/her, but also reject an offer; ● He/She is efficient both in working independently as well as in a team, as a team member he/she is prepared to render his/her skills in a socially acceptable way and subordinate. ● He/She can set goals and a program of meaningful research to support creation; ● He/She is ready to handle the specific requirements of working in a project team; ● He/She is willing and ready to accept criticism and comments on his/her author's work – he/she considers it to be a useful input for changes and corrections in his/her personal development. He/She considers competition as a mirror set for building up his/her own competences; ● He/She critically assesses the results of his/her work and actively compares them with the results of his/her colleagues or competitors – he/she is able to accept assignments and take responsibility for assigned tasks; ● He/She approaches the assessment of his own results or those of other people systematically and methodically – he/she considers the assessment important not only for the sponsor of the task, but above all for personal or corporate development. He/She uses verified or specifically set and objectively measurable criteria; ● He/She monitors and adjusts his/her own work procedures as well as the procedures of the third-party in order to increase safety and hygiene at work, including the use of specific technologies and personal protective work equipment; ● He/She provides useful information or is ready to share it with others in order to build mutually useful social contacts. He/She is building a reputation as a responsible helpful professional – he/she is aware of the impact of a cooperative attitude on study and career potential. He/She actively participates in various forms of teaching, as well as in off-school activities (seminars, workshops, competitions, exhibitions). It is not a problem for him/her to act as a lecturer-presenter for a short time; ● He/She transforms himself/herself to a "safe professional" in a responsible way with a high degree of certainty of achieving a competitive result according to the propositions. Profile courses

Employability of graduates

A graduate of the bachelor's degree Study Programe Design is competently equipped for work as an independent designer of simpler products or a leading member of a team of more complex designs in design studios, architectural studios, in project teams, in product development or in research, in production - especially in the growing demand for customer-tailored solutions or original products and their details. The graduate can design original and solitary products, industrial mass-produced products, selected visual communication products for advertising, marketing, or realize visualizations according to drawing documentation. A graduate can also work as an interior designer or in the exhibition industry. This framework formulates the requirements for applicants going through the selection procedures to fill vacancies, or in grant schemes and projects (advertising, etc.) for the given academic degree. After completing internships and practical experience, students declare their competence for the required tasks, just like graduates after a certain period of practical experience who are being offerred the job. Any recommended expansion of competences is related to the requirements of a specific job, and it cannot be replaced by general academic training. Graduates can also be employed in other professions related to design, such as advertising, marketing, education, services, public administration, third sector, etc. Education at this level will also prepare the graduate for the freelance profession in the field of art design - in small businesses. FAD STU graduates largely use the possibility of working under the fixed-term contracts or on the base of the trade certificate. A graduate of the bachelor's study program Design is ready to study the 2nd degree of university studies and can, using the acquired knowledge and skills, directly continue his/her studies in subsequent master's study programs in the field of Art, in the Design program.
