Graduate Profile

Knowledge

Profile of a graduate of the 3rd degree study program Process Technique (PT) consists of expertise in physical principles and theoretical foundations of phenomena occurring in process engineering, theoretical context of phenomena in processing operations and processes that transform substances to obtain their desired properties, specifically in the field of mechanical , hydraulic, thermal, diffusion processes, chemical reactors and bioreactors. The graduate masters in detail the philosophy of the internal context of disciplines, uses scientific methods of research and solution of complex problems in a broad context, masters non-traditional approaches in R&D of new equipment, processes and technologies. He can routinely search the source databases and libraries for available literary knowledge, rigorously evaluate and find them for a solved problem and confront them with the results of his own experimental work. He has knowledge of the procedures of planning a scientific experiment, masters the most modern measurement and evaluation techniques for complicated experiments. The graduate is able to generalize the acquired knowledge, formulate scientific conclusions and publish them in the form of reasonably required or expected output. The employment of graduates is mainly in the positions of scientists and researchers at universities, scientific or research institutes, but also in industrial research. The graduate of the PT study program has the ability to independently manage professional tasks and coordinate the activities of various professions in the field, work in a team and plan and coordinate work activities. The graduate of the third level of education in the study program Process Technique (PT) shows a significant development of knowledge and understanding of contexts, which provide a platform or opportunity for originality in R&D or in the development of knowledge based on the study of mass, heat and momentum transfer. It has an extremely wide horizon in the field of mechanical separation processes, in the mechanics of particulate systems and rigid body mechanics. He is a specialist in the field of mass, heat and momentum transfer, material and enthalpy balances, but also in the field of boiling and condensation of liquids or heat transfer without phase change, or in heat transfer through phase interface. Graduates have a high standard of knowledge level, who can apply their knowledge of processes and understanding and ability to solve problems in new or unknown areas of topics in a broader, often multidisciplinary context, which are specified in the field of study.

Skillset

Upon successful completion of the study program, the graduate has the ability to integrate and superimpose knowledge and master complexity and formulate conclusions which includes a reflection of professional, social and ethical requirements associated with the application of their knowledge. He has the ability to clearly and unambiguously formulate his conclusions and knowledge and the rationale on which he is based, both professional and non-specialized recipients of information. He has the ability use of software and hardware tools used in the field (research, development, construction, design, production, ...) and expert knowledge for the creation of documents for automated control and measurement systems (online, distributed, remote, ...).

Competencies

At the same time, the graduate will achieve the ability to develop and acquire further knowledge that can continue his career growth in a way that can be predominantly autonomous or completely autonomous. The graduate of doctoral studies has all the necessary professional, pedagogical and personal prerequisites for employment as a university stuff in the position of a researcher or a university teacher. The doctoral study corresponds in the qualification framework of the European Higher Education Area at level 8 of the European Qualifications Framework of the European Union.

Employability of graduates

The applicability of graduates is one of the monitored aspects of assessing education in terms of content and quality. Most students already work externally on projects or contracts of specialized construction, design, manufacturing or research companies during their studies. These are usually auxiliary technical works in the processing of construction or design documents, respectively directly in production. Companies offer students not only the opportunity to get acquainted with the portfolio of their work (eg in professional practice, excursions or motivational short-term work stays), but also by offering topics doctoral's theses. Students very often solve such topics of their final theses with a view to securing a job position in such a company, where if they do not continue their studies on an engineering study program, then they continue smoothly as employees on the same project, whose partial solution was e.g. Final thesis. The applicability of graduates of the Process Technique study program is often tested by production and research companies by announcing competitions for the best final work in the field (eg Slovnaft, Slovak Maintenance Company, Slovak Gas and Oil Association, etc.), where our graduates received several awards. However, the employment of graduates is not only in production activities (employees, employers, SZČO, etc.), but especially in continuing additional education in technical or economics fields, where graduates purposefully increase their potential for employment in the labor market. by obtaining a new, higher qualification for various more demanding professions. To find out the applicability of graduates of the study program “Process Technique”, it is possible to use publicly available statistics on the website - https://uplatnenie.sk/. Due to the small number of graduates ending annually (2-3 graduates), the page does not publish the report - "Due to the low number of graduates in the selected combination of criteria, it is not possible to display the required data.". In the periodically published employment / unemployment statistics (Social Insurance Agency, Labor Offices, Profession, LinkedIn, etc.) according to departments and study focus, graduates of the Process Technique study program are not among the unemployed. On the portals and in the offer systems of job positions, there are offers for graduates of the mentioned study program for suitable job positions (specific offers with the indication of preferences directly from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU in Bratislava).

Examples of professions the graduate is prepared for

According to the system of professions and the register of employment (https://www.sustavapovolani.sk/register_zamestnani), the following professions are multiple examples of the number of professions for which a graduate of the study program Process Technique has competencies. The potential of the study program from the point of view of the graduate's application is its multidisciplinarity and the possibility of variability. Based on extensive knowledge of engineering and process character, the graduate has the ability to operatively and adequately adapt to the requirements of employers, i. is flexible for solving even atypical tasks and focusing projects or problems. The securing workplace of the study program transfers to education the latest knowledge of its research, of which doctoral students are also direct participants (grant research projects, research projects for industrial practice, etc.), but also knowledge from the international research area in which teachers are valid and requested participants of international teams. Such a connection with the international environment as well as the manufacturing sector is a guarantee of a quick reflection on possible new requirements for education.

Examples of successful graduates

Due to the frequent problems with providing personal data, respectively with their escape and abuse, in this paragraph we will not mention any names of successful graduates. Graduates work at all levels of production and managerial positions due to the length of work experience, career opportunities and available positions in domestic and foreign / international companies (from employees in production positions, as well as managerial positions of middle and top management of companies). It would not be effective to state specific names of companies and held job positions.

Statements of employers or regulators

At the request of the Chairman of the Study Program Council, several representatives of major industrial companies who have detailed work experience and the achieved level of knowledge of graduates commented on the applicability of graduates and the quality of the Process Technique study program. Representatives of Slovnaft a.s. Bratislava, Mondeléz SR Production s.r.o. Bratislava, Evonik Fermas s.r.o. Slovenská Ľupča, Duslo a.s. Šala, Envien Group Leopoldov and Energetické strojárne s.r.o. Košice. The conclusions from the opinions are positive in terms of the applicability of graduates and the demonstrated knowledge acquired during the study. The quality of studies is also evidenced by specific offers for job (for graduates) positions directly delivered to the Institute of Process Engineering of the FME STU. They are not aplicable, it is not a preparation for regulated professions
