Knowledge

The doctoral graduate, has significant theoretical knowledge in the research field of space engineering, and will gain scientific knowledge as well as experimental, design, simulation and practical experience in key subjects of electrical engineering, electronics, robotics, informatics, sensors, microsystem technology, electrotechnology and applied physics, such as: Analysis of signals and systems, Electronic systems for controlling of space devices, Methods of digital image processing, Modern control methods, Navigation systems, Robotics of space applications, Microsystems for space applications, Space technologies and materials, Mathematical-computer simulation of systems and Design of space vehicles needed for the design and development of applications in space engineering.

Skillset

The graduate of the second-degree study program Space engineering: - knows scientific methods of research and development in the field, and understands them in their interdisciplinary context given by the technical, legal, economical, ethical and environmental aspects of the addressed complex task - demonstrates the ability and readiness for independent, creative and research activities in the field, as well as masters the scientific formulations of problem solving while being able to present the results of his scientific work in the relevant professional circles at home or abroad. - acquires new theoretical knowledge from computer-aided technical means used for developments of technical space research and research in other related fields. - is ready to shape trends and concepts of development in computer-aided space structures and technologies, - is able to use and apply the acquired knowledge in various areas of industry and social life, creates links research - development - production - use, knows the legal, ethical, and environmental aspects of new products. - is able to create new job opportunities.

Competencies

Intensive involvement of students in solving research tasks during their studies in domestic and international scientific projects and presentation of the results in international forums will allow the graduate to gain valuable experience from teamwork, experiment design and evaluation, as well as presentation and communication of results.

Employability of graduates

The graduate will find employment not only in the field of space research, space engineering, advanced and smart electronic and electrical systems, but also in related industries, such as robotics, mechatronics, computer science, telecommunications, microelectronics, optoelectronics, sensorics, microsystems technology, automotive industry (engineering), and others. Application is not limited to employment in the Slovak Republic, but also abroad, where graduates can offer their high expertise in the mentioned industries. As this is a new study program, it is not possible to evaluate the achieved employment rate in industries or the unemployment rate of graduates of a particular study program. Based on 2019 statistics from the Ministry of Education, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, the unemployment rate of 502 FEI STU graduates in Bratislava is 1 %, while 56 % were employed in their field with an average gross salary of 1776 €.

Based on the submitted documents and findings obtained during the discussion within the meeting Board of the study program, representatives of external parties welcome and support the proposal for the creation and implementation of a new study program Space Engineering, which is characterized by interdisciplinarity within the field of Electrical Engineering and its pedagogical activities are covered by several faculty departments. From their point of view, there is and will be an interest in applying the graduates of the study program in practice.This is not the case of regulated professions.
