Graduate Profile

Knowledge

The profile of the graduate of the 2nd degree study program Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries (CHPSZ) consists of expert knowledge of physical principles and theoretical foundations of phenomena occurring in process technology, theoretical context of phenomena in processing operations and processes of transformation of substances to obtain their required properties in area of mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, diffusion processes, chemical reactors and bioreactors. The graduate knows the design of apparatus, machines and equipment for the implementation of production operations to obtain the required products. By studying, you will acquire and master the theory of ongoing processes in process engineering and construction in general, as well as individual structural elements in it, which provide suitable conditions for the implementation of the proposed processes and operations. Can analyze, design, construct, operate, maintain not only individual machines, but also complex production systems and production lines. You will find applications as designer of production processes, machines and equipment, production lines for industrial practice, especially in the field of chemical and food technologies, but also in energy, biotechnological production and consumer industries. Appropriate employment of the graduate is also in the middle and top management of production plants. A graduate of the second level of education in the CHPSZ study program demonstrates a significant development of knowledge and understanding of the context, which is based on the first level of education. The originality of the graduate's knowledge is ensured by a range of profile subjects. The graduate has a processing base of knowledge not only in their own processes (mechanical, hydraulic, thermal, diffusion, reactors and bioreactors), but also the theoretical basis of knowledge is applied physical chemistry and transfer phenomena (momentum, heat and mass). An additional benefit is knowledge of the safety and reliability of production equipment focused on emergency prevention, control of structural and chemical-engineering calculation programs and material and energy balances. The graduate also has specific knowledge in the field of chemical and food production lines, paper technologies and machines, design and construction of technological units and separation technologies (mechanical, hydraulic and diffusion). The graduate of the CHPSZ study program can create drawing construction and project documentation of production equipment - machines and apparatus, from detailed workshop drawings to standard project diagrams, define suitable construction materials and technologies for production (division, machining, forming, welding and others), develop technical descriptions and reports for the approval, operation, maintenance and repair of process equipment, identify and propose the elimination of industrial risks and potential emergencies of individual machines and apparatus up to large production lines and operations. He has the ability to independently solve professional tasks and coordinate the activities of various professions in the field, work in a team and plan and coordinate work activities.

Skillset

Upon successful completion of the study program, they have the ability to integrate and superimpose knowledge and manage complexity and formulate conclusions even in obtaining incomplete or severely limited information, which however, includes reflection on professional, social and ethical requirements associated with the application of their knowledge. It has the ability to formulate clearly and unambiguously its conclusions and the knowledge and rationale on which it is based, both professional and non-specialized recipients of information. It is ready for the effective use of software and hardware tools used in the field (construction, design, production, ...) and has the expertise to create data for automated measurement and control systems (online, distributed, remote, ...) of individual devices and complex units.

Competencies

Graduates have a high standard of knowledge that can apply their knowledge of processes and understanding and ability to solve problems in new or unknown areas of topics in a broader, often multidisciplinary context, related to the specifics of the field of study. The graduate also has the ability to develop the acquisition of additional knowledge that will allow him to continue his studies in a way that can be largely autonomous or completely autonomous. In the Qualification Framework of the European Higher Education Area, engineering studies correspond to level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework of the European Union.

Profile courses

Employability of graduates

The applicability of graduates is one of the monitored aspects of assessing education in terms of content and quality. Most students already work externally on projects or contracts of specialized construction, design, manufacturing or research companies during their studies. These are usually auxiliary technical works in the processing of construction or design documents, respectively directly in production. Companies offer students not only the opportunity to get acquainted with the portfolio of their work (eg in professional practice, excursions or motivational short-term work stays), but also by offering topics for semester work or master's theses. Students very often solve such topics of their final theses with a view to securing a job position in such a company, where if they do not continue their studies on an engineering study program, then they continue smoothly as employees on the same project, whose partial solution was e.g. Final thesis. The applicability of graduates of the Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries study program is often tested by production and research companies by announcing competitions for the best final work in the field (eg Slovnaft, Slovak Maintenance Company, Slovak Gas and Oil Association, etc.), where our graduates received several awards. However, the employment of graduates is not only in production activities (employees, employers, SZČO, etc.), but especially in continuing education in the 3rd level of study in technical fields (full-time doctoral studies), where graduates purposefully increase their potential for employment in the labor market. by obtaining a new, higher qualification for various more demanding professions. An example of the applicability of graduates of the study program Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries is the official publicly available statistics from 2019 - https://uplatnenie.sk/. In the periodically published employment / unemployment statistics (Social Insurance Agency, Labor Offices, Profession, LinkedIn, etc.) according to departments and study focus, graduates of the Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries study program are not among the unemployed. On the portals and in the offer systems of job positions, there are offers for graduates of the mentioned study program for suitable job positions (specific offers with the indication of preferences directly from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU in Bratislava).

Examples of professions the graduate is prepared for

According to the system of professions and the register of employment (https://www.sustavapovolani.sk/register_zamestnani), the multiple professions are typical examples of the number of professions for which a graduate of the study program Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries has competencies. The potential of the study program from the point of view of the graduate's application is its multidisciplinarity and the possibility of variability. Based on extensive knowledge of engineering and process, the graduate has the ability to operatively and adequately adapt to the requirements of employers and flexible solving even atypical tasks and project focus. The securing workplace of the study program transfers to education the latest knowledge of its research, of which students are also direct participants (grant research projects, research projects for industrial practice, etc.), but also knowledge from the international research area in which teachers are valid and desired participants. international teams. Such a connection with the international environment as well as the manufacturing sector is a guarantee of a quick reflection on possible new requirements for education.

Examples of successful graduates

Due to the frequent problems with providing personal data, respectively with their escape and abuse, in this paragraph we will not mention any names of successful graduates. Graduates work at all levels of production and managerial positions due to the length of work experience, career opportunities and available positions in domestic and foreign / international companies (from employees in production positions, as well as managerial positions of middle and top management of companies). It would not be effective to state specific names of companies and held job positions.

Statements of employers or regulators

At the request of the Chairman of the Study Program Council, several representatives of major industrial companies who have detailed work experience and the achieved level of knowledge of graduates commented on the applicability of graduates and the quality of the Machines and Equipment for Chemical and Food Industries study program. Representatives of Slovnaft a.s. Bratislava, Mondeléz SR Production s.r.o. Bratislava, Evonik Fermas s.r.o. Slovenská Ľupča, Duslo a.s. Šala, Envien Group Leopoldov and Energetické strojárne s.r.o. Košice. The conclusions from the opinions are positive in terms of the applicability of graduates and the demonstrated knowledge acquired during the study. The quality of studies is also evidenced by specific offers for job (for graduates) positions directly delivered to the Institute of Process Engineering of the FME STU.They are not aplicable, it is not a preparation for regulated professions
