Employability of graduates

Based on the portal https://uplatnenie.sk/, according to available information from 2019, up to 100% of graduates of the Materials Engineering study program continue their studies at the 2nd degree..

Examples of professions the graduate is prepared for

The Materials Engineering study program is focused on knowledge of concepts, principles and theories related to the application of technical materials in a wide range of use in engineering practice. The application of graduates is therefore primarily in the engineering industry, but with an overlap also in interdisciplinary professions in the field of energy, electrical engineering, i.e. wherever it is necessary to recognize the material properties of the operating processes and to optimize and manage them in such a way as to increase the economic efficiency and safety of their operation . In these areas, a graduate of the Materials Engineering study program will be employed as a project manager, designer, system designer, process specialist, controller for non-destructive testing of materials, seller or buyer of input semi-finished products for engineering production. The graduate of this study program is characterized by knowledge in the field of material and technological processes of engineering production, which allows him to better understand the physical essence of these processes and to use this for their optimization and overall impact on the environment on the one hand, and on the other hand to increase the quantity and quality of production as and overall labor productivity. The graduate has knowledge of the production processes of technical materials, their properties after technological processing into tools or components, as well as their side effects on production and the environment. He masters various methods of measuring a wide range of material properties and knows how to process, analyze and evaluate them. The graduate can independently and as part of a team analyze technical problems, propose their solution, while being able to diagnose, maintain, manage and further develop existing systems. The graduate is able to apply the latest theoretical knowledge to solve practical problems, while being able to independently assess various solution options and choose the most effective one, which takes into account the benefit as well as the cost component. It will thus be applied in companies dealing with the sale, purchase, processing and testing of materials, as well as in the automotive and energy industries. It has the prerequisites to do business in the field of production and services focused primarily on the production of devices, machines and equipment. It has the prerequisites for applying after the Bc. Study as a middle link of management in engineering enterprises. Graduate of the Bachelor's study program Materials Engineering: ● is ready for the 2nd degree of university studies and can, using the acquired knowledge and skills, directly continue studying in subsequent engineering study programs in the field of Materials Engineering, as well as Manufacturing Technologies, Manufacturing Technologies and Manufacturing management. ● applies as (according to the System of Occupations at sustavapovolani.sk): process technician, equipment operator in engineering production, production planning specialist, technician quality control, engineering specialists, technicians in physical, technical sciences and transport.

Examples of successful graduates

In the 20 years of its existence, the bachelor's degree in Materials Engineering has produced a whole range of graduates. In most cases, graduates smoothly continue their engineering studies and then go into practice. These graduates were employed in various branches of industry and in management positions. For example, the following graduates can be mentioned in the field of automotive industry: Ing. Karol Hanko (2008), Plastic Omnium. In the field of transport, for example, Ing. Imrich Czere (2020) – Director of Zvolen Railway Repair and Machinery, a.s., Ing. Daniel Habardík (2007), ŽOS Trnava, Ing. Klaudia Kardhordóová (2017), JKM Žeriavy s.r.o. Smart. In the field of energy, a successful graduate is, for example, Ing. Juraj Chromek (2018) - Slovenské elektrárne a.s. Ing. found their application in other fields of mechanical engineering.
