More than 200 students from eleven partner universities of the EULiST alliance gathered at the third annual EULiST Student Conference 2026, hosted by the Brno University of Technology during the last week of June. The conference provided a forum for discussion on the future of European higher education, international cooperation, and the active involvement of students in the alliance’s development. The Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava was represented by 20 students from all faculties and Institute of Management.
During the multi-day program, they participated in specialized lectures, workshops, panel discussions, and presentations of student projects. The main topics included technological development, the impact of artificial intelligence on education, current societal challenges, and opportunities for further developing cooperation among the universities affiliated with EULiST.
“I am pleased to note that our EULiST university alliance has already taken firm root at our partner universities and has become an integral part of our academic culture,” said Ladislav Janíček, Rector of BUT, at the conference’s opening.
The program also included workshops organized by the alliance’s various working groups. Several workshops were led by STU faculty members: Kvetoslava Vranková (University Innovation in Action), Šimon Tibenský (Multi-Agent AI Systems in Practice: Designing Agents, Building Skills, and Solving Real Tasks), and Maryna Babenko (Designing Sustainable Buildings: Bio-Based Materials and Life Cycle Thinking in Practice). The program also included networking activities and opportunities to explore the city of Brno.
"This year’s conference had a very pleasant and student-oriented atmosphere. I particularly appreciated the varied social program, which created numerous opportunities to get to know students from partner universities. The opening lecture by entrepreneur Libor Horený was also very interesting; it was among the best keynote presentations I’ve experienced at a conference,” said Adam Gašparovič, the EULiST student delegate from STU, who has attended every edition of the conference.
EULiST (European Universities Linking Society and Technology) is a European university alliance bringing together eleven universities and more than 200,000 students across Europe. Its goal is to connect education, research, and innovation and to create new opportunities for students, academics, and university staff. The student conference is one of the alliance’s key events, as it provides a space for exchanging experiences, formulating new initiatives, and actively involving students in shaping the future of EULiST.
