Information
Who is eligible to apply?
Students who meet the following criteria may apply:
- are duly enrolled at STU during the internship,
- have successfully completed at least the first year of a bachelor’s degree program,
- are citizens of the Slovak Republic, an EU member state, or another country participating in the Erasmus+ program, or hold a temporary residence permit in the Slovak Republic.
When can you apply?
Applications are accepted during three selection periods:
- december – 31. január
- apríl – 15. máj
- september – 30. september
If, after applying, you find that you are unable to participate in the mobility program for serious reasons, please inform the Erasmus+ Coordinator at the International Office as soon as possible and state the reason. Valid reasons include academic difficulties, health issues, or serious family circumstances. If you cancel your mobility program without prior notice and without providing a valid reason, you will not be able to submit another application for an Erasmus+ mobility program (study, BIP, or internship). Thank you for your responsible approach to applying for mobility programs.
How long can your internship last?
A long-term Erasmus+ internship can last:
- at least 2 months,
- up to 12 months within a single level of study.
As a rule, the Erasmus+ program’s funding options at STU allow for the financing of internships lasting up to 6 months.
If funding is available, you may request an extension of your mobility period by submitting an “Application for Extension of Erasmus+ Mobility for an Internship”.
Where can you do an internship?
Internships can be completed at foreign businesses and companies, research organizations, training centers, nonprofit organizations, and universities, regardless of their size or legal status.
Internships are not supported at European Union institutions and bodies, organizations managing EU programs, or diplomatic missions (embassies, consulates, etc.) of the country of which the participant is a citizen.
Do I have to find an internship on my own? Where can I find a suitable internship?
Yes. The student is responsible for finding and contacting a host organization.
When searching for a suitable internship, you can use:
- directly contacting foreign companies, organizations, research centers, or universities,
- opportunities posted by the faculty,

Work placements can be carried out in EU member states, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, North Macedonia, and Serbia. Students also have the option of completing an internship outside the EU; however, they must notify the IRO internship coordinator as soon as possible, as there is a limited number of spots available, and in the case of higher education institutions, an Inter-Institutional Agreement (IIA) is also required.
Please send your application to paulina.lenartova@stuba.sk.
Once the selection process is complete, please send the Letter of Acceptance from the host institution to paulina.lenartova@stuba.sk.
IRO will create a checklist for you in UIS, which you will use to upload all required documents, including the Letter of Acceptance you received.
Once your documents have been approved and reviewed, an Erasmus+ grant agreement will be issued for you. You must physically bring or mail three original copies of this agreement to the IRO. Upon submission of the agreement, you will receive 80% of the approved grant. The remaining 20% will be paid after you have successfully completed your mobility period and fulfilled all obligations.
Departure for mobility.
During mobility
During your mobility period, have the “Confirmation of Stay” document stamped and upload it to UIS.
A request to extend the internship must be submitted no later than 1 month before the internship ends.
After mobility
To successfully complete the internship and receive the remaining 20% of the grant, you must upload the following to UIS within 30 days of the end of the mobility period (for graduating students, no later than before the state exam):
- Confirmation of completion of the internship,
- Traineeship Certificate.
After completing your internship, you will receive an automatically generated questionnaire from the European Commission (Erasmus+ Participant Report) via email. Completing this questionnaire is a mandatory part of the internship.
Share your experiences on UIS. Your experiences will help future Erasmus+ participants choose a university and prepare for their mobility.
After uploading the documents, completing the final report, and filling out the questionnaire, the student will receive the remaining 20% of the grant.
