A BridgeTTe Sciencepreneur Spotlight
Behind almost every air-handling unit sits something few people ever see: a control cabinet, manually wired, built largely by hand, one unit at a time. It works, but it’s slow to produce, hard to standardise, and rarely designed with remote monitoring or connectivity in mind. A Slovak startup called Aericomm thinks the fix isn’t a better cabinet. It’s no cabinet at all.

Aericomm s.r.o. is led by Radoslav Pšenka and develops its technology in cooperation with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava. The team combines practical HVAC experience with embedded control, IIoT connectivity and remote service capabilities. Component testing and technology validation in the lab are already complete TRL 4, with industrial-environment component testing (TRL 5) and full system testing (TRL 6) both planned next, alongside a clear intent to spin off.
What they’ve built?
Aericomm’s intelligent integrated control board for air-handling units replaces the conventional, manually wired control cabinet outright. It combines control logic, I/O interfaces, communication, remote monitoring, and service functions into one compact hardware platform, cutting wiring complexity and shifting HVAC control toward something more repeatable, connected, and software-oriented than the cabinet-by-cabinet approach it replaces.
Who it’s for?
The obvious customer is HVAC manufacturers themselves, but the applications reach further: smart and connected buildings, energy infrastructure, energy-efficient building operation, and industrial or commercial building automation more broadly, anywhere a wired cabinet is currently doing a software problem’s job.
The road ahead.
As a small team, Aericomm’s current barriers are capacity and access to a relevant testing environment rather than the technology itself. What they need next: access to real HVAC units or air-handling systems for pilot validation, feedback from HVAC manufacturers, system integrators, and facility operators, industrial partners for commercial testing and first reference installations, and support with certification, reliability testing, and preparing for scale-up production.
Why it matters to the BridgeTTe community?
Aericomm is a good reminder that not every deep-tech story is about a new material or a new algorithm; sometimes it’s about quietly removing a piece of legacy hardware that an entire industry has simply gotten used to. If you work in HVAC manufacturing, smart buildings, or industrial automation, or know a facility that should meet this team, this is a bridge worth crossing.
