Graduate Profile

Knowledge

A graduate will gain knowledge from basic natural science, technical and technological disciplines, management as well as knowledge from information technologies for an application approach to the use of computer technology. This knowledge is organically followed by the study of profiling subjects, primarily from production technologies, computer support of production technologies, computer support of assembly CAA, computer support of quality CAQ, computer support of designing tools and fixtures, computer support of designing technological workplaces with a robot - CAR, with an emphasis on practical skills and abilities.

Skillset

The graduate has practical skills in the application of CAx systems for the design, production and inspection of complex-shaped parts for the automotive or aerospace industry. He can use modern 3D computer software CAD, CAQ, CAM, CAE, CAA and modern CNC machines and 3D printers. He has the opportunity to practically verify all the knowledge acquired during his studies on many devices and machines available in laboratories. The graduate has practical skills in the inspection of mechanical parts, where he can apply optical 3D scanning, computer tomography, reverse engineering and coordinate optical measurement. He can use modern 3D computer software CAD, CAM, CAQ, CAE, CAA, CAR. In the field of CAA, he will gain skills in product design from the point of view of assembly, design of assembly workplaces and systems. He has skills in software used in computer-aided assembly. He is proficient in CNC machines and NC devices, technological CNC robots and 3D printers, optical 3D scanning and coordinate optical measurement. Has skills in building robots and designing simulation scenes of robotic technology workplaces.

Competencies

The graduate has a set of interconnected knowledge and skills that allow him to master the issues of CAD/CAM systems and CA technologies used in production preparation and manufacturing, can design 3D parts for 3D printing and 3D machining with a robot, can apply and apply the principles of setting, programming and control of hydraulic and pneumatic mechanisms of production machines, equipment, manipulators and robots, fixtures, grippers, tools and gauges. Has the ability to apply the acquired skills for designing complex shaped parts, is able to design a technological production process, generate a CNC program for the production of parts, design an inspection plan, apply and evaluate a measurement procedure and design assembly procedures for products. Is able to effectively solve specific problems that arise in the CAD-CAM-CNC-CAQ-CAA chain. The graduate is proficient in the most modern ICT, which he is able to use in his practice.

Profile courses

Employability of graduates

Graduates are able to apply themselves in the implementation and operation of production and technological systems as CAD/CAM technologists, CA technology office workers, designers of production tools and fixtures, in the field of technical preparation of production and in programming CNC machines and robots, and production systems. Mechanical engineering specialist, designer of production tools, fixtures, aids, technological equipment, industrial robots, Designer of robotized cells, workplaces, lines. Graduates of the study program are interested in companies and firms already during their studies and therefore they are mainly employed in their field.

Examples of professions the graduate is prepared for

The graduate is qualified to perform the profession of "Mechanical Technologist," with advanced skills in controlling computer technology, CAx systems and CAx technologies used in the preparation and management of production (CNC machines and robots). He is able to independently create technical documentation and design with computer support (Mechanical Specialist Designer, Designer), create programs for CNC-controlled production machines (CNC Programming Specialist). The graduate can model complex 3D products and simulate the preparation of their production, can apply himself in the implementation and operation of production-technological systems, as a CAD/CAM technologist, designer of production tools, fixtures and aids, in the field of technical preparation of production and in programming NC technology and production systems using computer technology and appropriate software (Mechanical Specialist Technologist).

Statements of employers or regulators

The study program Computer Support of Production Technologies and Robotic Systems reflects the requirements and expectations of employers for the knowledge and skills acquired by studying, primarily, the profile subjects of the study program in its two specializations, namely in the specialization: Computer Support of Production Technologies, and the specialization: Robotic Production Systems. The composition of the subjects corresponds to the nature of future employment or possible continuation of studies at the 2nd level. Employers expressed their agreement with the submitted study program and both specializations. The employer representatives agreed on a joint statement: “A graduate of the Computer Support of Manufacturing Technologies and Robotized Manufacturing Systems study program will be able to independently solve assigned practical tasks using CA technologies and IT skills acquired in profile subjects. The graduate will acquire knowledge of the basic principles and tools necessary for performing work tasks.” Representatives of external stakeholders provided their statement with the following comments: in the future, include English from the first year and conduct more technical subjects/exercises/projects in a foreign language. After discussion, the external parties agreed on the following statement: “The Computer Support of Manufacturing Technologies and Robotized Manufacturing Systems study program reflects the requirements and expectations of employers for the knowledge and skills acquired through the study of, primarily, profile subjects of the study program.”
