The joint program of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAS), Slovak University of Technology (STU) and University of Comenius (UK) focused on the return of our scientists from abroad to Slovakia, continues. Today, SAS opens the second call for projects proposals within the SASPRO 2 program. The Slovak researchers currently working abroad who want to return to their homeland, or the researchers from abroad who want to do science in Slovakia, can submit their projects until 31 August 2021.
A joint project of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Slovak University of Technology and Comenius University, SASPRO 2 is aimed at reinforcing the scientific organizations of these institutions by the researchers from top foreign workplaces, improving cooperation between the scientific and application sectors and supporting multidisciplinary approaches to projects solution.
"I am happy to have launched another call of this successful program, and I do believe that a large number of applicants will re-apply so that we can select the best of the submitted projects. The veracious selection is guaranteed by a panel of experts evaluating these projects, so I expect that all three involved institutions will benefit from the project, "said Pavol Šajgalík, President of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
“The pre-requisite for achieving the top level Slovak science is also participation of high-quality scientists from abroad. I consider this successful program to be very important, and therefore welcome its continuation," stated Oliver Moravčík, entrusted with the function of STU Rector.
"Brain drain to foreign countries is a problem Slovakia has been struggling with for a long time. This Project is a chance to change it. Besides, it as a chance to connect our research with that from abroad, and, last but not least, to connect scientists of our institutions," says Marek Števček, the UK Rector.
The three leading science and research organizations offer 40 vacancies covering various research areas at 70 potential host organizations. Each of the universities will receive 10 scientists to its workplaces, while the remaining 20 will work in the SAS institutes.
Researchers with a PhD degree of all nationalities can apply for a working stay of 12 to 36 months within the SASPRO 2 program; the field of science is not limited. Following the selection process of the second call, the first researchers should start working in the host institutions since February 2022.
The SASPRO 2 program is implemented within the EU Horizon 2020 research and innovation program Marie Curie Skłodowska COFUND.
