Financial support for students
Scholarship – information on scholarship for international students is provided by the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic
Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava grants its regular students financial support in a form of scholarship. Granting the following kinds of financial support is not available for the mobility students.
Merit scholarship is granted to students of a study program of the first and the second level of university education for excellent performance of their study-related duties achieved in studies in their standard length in the given level of university education in the previous academic year.
Fulfilment of study-related duties is assessed with the following criteria:
a) successful accomplishment of study programs included in the student’s own Study Plan;
b) quality of achieved study results in subjects in line with the (a);
c) other facts important for assessing the quality of performance of study-related duties laid down by the Directive of the Dean - for students of study programs performed at Faculties - and the Directive of the Rector - for students of study programs performed at other Parts of STU - disclosed before the start of the assessed academic year.
A merit scholarship is paid to students as a lump-sum, not later than until the end of the first term of the following academic year.
Special grant is a one-off and it can be awarded to students of the first, second ant the third level of university education, for:
a) excellent results achieved in the last academic year (“Student of Year” Rector's award for excellent study results; significant activity performed in favour of STU; significant sports or artistic performance; significant human act);
b) excellent performance of study-related duties throughout the whole studies (“Rector's Award”);
c) exceptionally high-quality final thesis;
d) outstanding result in scientific or artistic activities;
e) successful representation of the Faculty or University in artistic competitions, sports competitions or knowledge-based competitions;
f) significant activity performed in favour of the Faculty or a different Part of STU and for a major human act.
The amount of the special grant is differentiated depending on the level of university education and it is derived from the basic amount of the merit scholarship.
Postgraduate Student’s Social Status
The Slovak University of Technology provides a student participating in full-time study in a doctoral study programme with a scholarship. A student participating in full-time study in a doctoral study programme with permanent residency in a member state (students who are citizens of a member state of the European Union or states, which are the contractual parties of the Agreement on the European Economic Area and the Swiss Confederation) is entitled (if he (she) didn’t already pass a third degree university education) to a scholarship during the standard duration of a study programme and on the following conditions:
a) till the passing of dissertation examination a scholarship represents minimum 9th salary class and first salary degree according to special regulation; and
b) after the passing of a dissertation examination it represents minimum 10th salary class and first salary degree according to a special regulation.
In the case of full-time study, the providing of a postgraduate student with a scholarship ends at the latest on the date of study termination.
