The applicant is obliged to submit a certified translation of documents attached to the application in the state language according to Section 33 para. 4 of  the  Act.

The applicant for recognition of diploma in accordance with Section 33 para. 2 and 3 of the Act must submit:

1. 

completed online application

2. copy of an identity card or a passport
3. notary-verified copy of a diploma or other education document issued by a foreign higher education institution 
4. notary-verified copy of a diploma supplement (including a transcript of completed subjects/courses) or a certified copy of a transcript of completed subjects/courses and passed exams
5.

document of the previous highest completed education (copy not notary-verified)

6.

confirmation of payment of administrative fee of 6,50 €. (information about the eStamp/eKolok can be found on the website of Slovak Post here)

7.

confirmation of payment of 40 € charge connected with recognition process. Fee is to be paid by a bank transfer or by a Slovak postal money order.

The authenticity of signatures and the school stamp on original copies of the education documents shall be certified: 

    • Apostille - shall be on the education documents issued in countries that have signed The Hague Convention on the Cancellation of the Requirement of a Higher Certification of Foreign Public Records; excluding documents issued in Austria. List of the particular offices authorised for certification in the respective countries is published in The Hague Convention;
    • Legalisation and Super-Legalisation - shall be on the documents issued in all other countries. Certification provides a national body competent for verification or a notary's office of the respective state with a stamp of the Slovak Embassy of that state;

Besides the documents listed under points 3 - 6, STU may require the applicant to submit other documents and information necessary for assessing the application. In such case, the recognition procedure shall be interrupted until the date of providing particular document/s.

Submitted documents will not be returned!

Helpful hints:

If during recognizing STU finds conditions under § 35, will decide on the imposition of differential examinations (§ 34 para. 4 of the Act). Differential tests may also be made through completion and defense of the bachelor thesis, diploma thesis or dissertation (§ 35 para. 4 of the Act). If the applicant proving the differential examinations submit the protocol for differential examinations according to § 35 para. 8 of the Act, STU shall, within 30 days from the date of delivery of the decision on recognition of diplomas.
